"Secret
of the Cave," a feature-length family film for which filmmaker
Rik Swartzwelder served as a script doctor, has won a Crystal Heart
Award and will have its world premiere at the Heartland Film Festival
in October 2006, where it will compete for the grand prize of $100,000.
The film centers around a young American boy who spends his summer
with relatives in Ireland and attempts to solve a supernatural mystery
that captivates their entire village.

graduate of The Florida State University’s Graduate Motion
Picture Conservatory, Rik Swartzwelder is an award-winning filmmaker
whose work has screened at over 140 film festivals, internationally,
and garnered over 50 major awards—including the “Student
Emmy” for his highly acclaimed master’s thesis film,
“Paul McCall,” and the Crystal Heart Award from the
Heartland Film Festival for his multiple award-winning 35mm short,
“The Least of These.”
