For
the second consecutive year, writer-director-producer Rik Swartzwelder
was invited by Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to be a
visiting professor for it's annual interim intensive. For three
weeks in January, Swartzwelder again lead a small group of dedicated
young filmmakers and actors through a series of in-class, hands-on
exercises and location shoots. Focused primarily on developing effective
communication skills between the director and his or her cast and
crew, the workshop has quickly become a favorite class among film
students at the liberal arts college. Swartzwelder has accepted
another invitation by Calvin to repeat the course again in January
2006.
