The
Least of These, Rik Swartzwelder’s multiple award-winning
short film, was recently honored with its 25th award. This time,
the award was for “Best Screenplay/Short Film” from
the Atlantic City Film Festival in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Just
prior to that, it was announced that The Least of These had been
named “Best Narrative Short” at the DeadCenter Film
Festival in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The constant and increasing
momentum of this unique short film has resulted in invitations to
three upcoming festivals in Southern California, all being held
this September – the Palm Springs International Festival of
Short Films and the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival
(both of which are Oscar-qualifying festivals), and the San Diego
Film Festival. More details on these screenings will be announced
soon.

Based
on a true story by internationally known speaker and sociologist
Tony Campolo, The Least of These has already garnered 25 awards
and over 50 “official selection” screenings during its
run on the film festival circuit. Filmed at the historic Tastee
Diner near Baltimore, Maryland, the atmospheric, character-driven
film tells the story of how the fading, isolated life of a diner
owner and the dull routine of his late night crowd are forever changed
by the unusual proposition of a stranger.
